I just recieved the Pioneer DVR 109 that I installed in a PM G4 Quicksilver 2002 933 MHZ. Install went fine. I looked up the information in system profiler and it says it has firmware 1.5 for the DVD drive but the current version is 1.55 from Pioneer. Is there anyway to upgrade the firmware for the DVR109 on a mac? I do not have a PC to take it to.
Thanks
Hi Shagless
The safe way would be to put the drive in a PC and upgrade,
but here's the Pioneer firmware (PC files only);

And this program is supposed to allow this to be done on a Mac;

Do this at your own risk.

Thanks for the quick response and the link. I search forums, but all the other stuff talked about whenever I search for this info gets in the way of me seeing what I need and what I need to do. This is was so much simpler and direct.
I ran the program but it said "The PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-109 is not supported by this utility"
Any idea if it will work anyway or does it force an abort? I did not proceed after that statement.
Thanks
I don't know if it will work, but since it says not supported, I wouldn't use it.
I found this site about flashing on a Mac;

Thanks again. I found a site where the author of FlashIt was asking for DVR109 beta testers for Flashit 2.1. I told him I was interested. So, maybe soon there will be a tested upgrade path for us mac users. Love my mac, hate the support from some developers.
Thanks for the great resources. I appreciate your speed of response, a lot.
