System: G4 Dual Processor 450
OS: Dual boot OS 9.22/OS X 10.4
Extensions in 9.2.2 disabled: (Among many others) Firewire and USB Authoring.
My G4 originally came with the Hitachi DVD-ROM in the internal bay which I replaced with a Pioneer DVR-111D. I am unable to burn DVDs under 9.2.2, as I get an "device not supported" error.
A request for help from macsales.com's tech support yielded the following:
"The Pioneer DVR-111 is not supported under OS 9, only 10.2.8-the latest OS.

So, as you can see, I'm not going to get any help from macsales.com.
Does anyone have an idea how I might get the DVR-111D to burn under OS 9.2.2?
Thanks,
David
It's been a while since I've booted into OS 9 but as I recall the Firewire Authoring and USB Authoring extensions were responsible for communication with burners. Now I'm not sure if that's just CD authoring or CD and DVD Authoring, but you might want to turn them on...
Anyway, what application are you using to do this? You may want to just try using another burning application. If you're not already using it, I'd recommend Toast. It's not cheap though...
Dustin, thank you for your response. I was using Apple Disc Burner which I believe came with OS 9.2.1.
In that case, you should certainly try to use some other burner software. Apple Disc Burner doesn't support the writer, but other programs come with their own set of burner drivers, so finding one that will work with that burner should be your golden ticket. I don't exactly recall, but I believe you should have the Authoring extensions on as well.
The Pioneer DVR-111D hasn't made it onto the Roxio Supported Drives Database (yet)

Is there an alternative to Roxio Toast?
