I have a flat panel G-4 , 800 MHz( Power PC G-4) and am using OSX version 10.2.8.
When I burn a copy of a movie on a DVD on the MAC it will not play on my Panasonic E55 DVD recorder/player. I am using 1-4x 4.7 gb DVD_R discs that should be compatable.
They record fine on the Mac and the Panasonic but I cannot watch anything I burn on the Mac on my Pansonic.
I have not ried watching discs I burn and finalize on the Panasonic on the Mac as yet but am worried that it will not either.
How can I make DVD's on my Mac that can play on my Panasonic and other players in the market. It has ruined my hoped of sharing many fine memories with relatives if i can only watch them on My Mac.
Thank You very Much,
Jim

if you're using iDVD or Toast to put in the DVD, and your media is DVD-R, then you've pretty much done all you've can. About 10% of DVD players out there won't play "home-made" DVDs. You might try a different brand of blank DVD-Rs, as some cheaper brands might not always be up to spec. However, it is odd that your Panasonic stand-alone burner won't playback, it shouldn't be in that 10%, it should be able to play it back just fine. It's gotta be the brand of DVD-Rs or some strange software bug, because usually burning DVDs works very well. I would not give up just yet. What software are you using to burn the DVDs? and what version of the software?

Thanks for your help.
I am just dragging the DVD to the blank DVD_R icon and then palcing the movie on it and burning and verifying it. I have also tried to use Roxio POPcorn to copy DVD's but had no luck either.
Any suggestions as to what beand of DVD's I should purchase and use? I tired SONY brand but my Mac would not read them.
Thanks JIm

oooooh, yeah that won't work at all. You'll need an actual program to copy the DVDs.
try the free program MacTheRipper (

I apologize for the wait in responding. I recently underwent surgery and the recovery has been long and painful.
Thanks for your help. I did get MACRIPPER and also purchased Toast 6.0 and Popcorn so i can do what is needed. Your help was very helpful.
Thanks very much.
