Hi once again--I'm not sure if this is a MAc or general question, but I have been traveling to China on business and have bought dvds-current movies in the US from China--they are very cheap here--anyway, I have heard various thngs about playing them on computers. I was wondering if you could shed some light on the subject. My son told me that through windows you could only play 4 movies total before it would not accept them-not sure if this is a wife tale or true. I know that they are coded regionally to prevent pirateing--and the many US DVD players wil not play them, however some of my coworker say a cheaper DVD players work--anyway that is a very long story. Any thought on the subject?
Thank you for your help, Jill
You could change the region code on the OS X dvd player, but you can only do that 5 times. However, I believe that the VLC movie/DVD player will play all DVDs no matter what the region code is. You can find that here:

Thank you Eric--I went to the web site and there seems to be a lot of info--so here are so other questions--is this a separate type of player that will not interfer wit my current Mac DVD player or change it in any way? On the site I did not see a download for the US, did I miss it? This may be more technical info than you know, so let me know if I should just look further at the site--Thanks, Jill
Yes, this is a completely different program, and will not interfer with your OS X DVD player. You can dwonload it here:

Download it from any country, those are just mirrors, not acctual languages of the program.
