TICKET ARCHIVE -> Playing XM on Intel Mac/Slimserver

I have: Intel Mac Mini 1.66, 2 G RAM, Slim devices Squeezebox 3's and Slimserver 6.3.1 (www.slimdevices.com).

I'm trying to get Slimserver 6.3.1 to play XM radio using the XM radio plugin. Although the Squeezeboxes (wireless audio players which use Slimserver to play music) can definitely see the XM channels, playing any channel results only in silence.

A related problem is when I go directly to xmradio.com and login, the player window opens but again NO audio. Firefox wants a plugin which isn't available.

The web playback works from a Windows PC, with the same account info.

I presume this is related to WMA format and that Intel Mac doesn't yet have a codec (Flip4Mac's intel version is pending), or is the slimserver streaming independent of this?

Thanks...

Steve,

I think your analysis is correct. I have the same problem and just a few days ago posted a note on the Slimp3 support forum asking if there was a solution for Intel macs. I noticed you posted the same question on the same Slim Devices support forum.

Here is the listing to my posting.

http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...t=21435&page=5

Feel free to monitor both links. Someone will probably answer my and your postings when a solution is available.

Paul:

I've tried a beta of the Flip4Mac WMV plugin but this doesn't seem to help. If you want I can send it to you to try.

Can you Play XM Online via any web browser? My Firefox says it needs a plugin and Safari chokes and wants to use Windows Media Player 9 (which does work, but no luck in Slimserver 6.3.1).

Steve,

I don't have XM Radio myself. I'm helping a neighbor get her XM Radio playing through her Slimp3. I didn't try a web browser. Next time I'm at her place I'll give it a try. That may be a couple of weeks, but I'll try when I visit her next.

I sent an email to the author of the Slimp3 plug-in last night. I'll let you know if he responds.

Paul
