Dear Richard,

My name is Vinko and I will attempt to assist you.

You may want to check all of the following:
  • Do you have the FileVault activated for your Mac's hard drive? You may want to turn it off. To do so you can use Apple's technote on this.
  • Have you repaired Permissions on your hard drive using the Disk Utility application? To do so you can use Apple's technote to do so.
  • Do you have Spotlight indexing your entire hard drive? You may want to uncheck some of the file types to be index, and may include folders as "Private". To do so you can see Apple's technote for in structons.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

-- Vinko
