In some apps like OS X Mail (in Preferences, Accounts) the mail accounts (if you have more than one) are not sorted alphabetically. This allows you to group things together as you wish rather than trying to "trick" OS X into a certain order by putting a number or symbol (`#@%*) in front it it like I presently have to do in Finder.
How can I abolish this infernal alphabetical sorting of this OS for good?
Then things will look like I want, not like Apple dictates.
You can arrange files/folders any way that you like in Icon view.
Might also be available for list view in one of the Finder help utilities, such as Quicksilver.
Icon view doestn't work for me.
I'd like to know for sure if this can possibly work since its not really about Finder, rather about OS X.
Please throw this back in the pool Thanks anyway.
The Finder is the visual element used by OSX to display and otherwise access files and directories. So, Finder is relevant in this case.
A Finder replacement/addition, such as QuickSilver may be more helpful to you.....

I think you're right.......

Thanks! I'll try Quicksilver.
Let us know what happens. Thanks.
