Description:
Some time ago, some sort of liquid was spilled onto the keyboard area of my Powerbook while I was not present. Upon noticing a stickiness while typing, I immediately shut down the computer and cleaned it from the outside as best I could. I had to go to work, and left it to dry, hoping that drying off would not cause any problems. At the time, I noticed that some of the keys worked OK in typing, while others did not, or came out as the wrong character. Later in the day, after work, the keyboard stopped working at all, and also the contrast and brightness controls next to the screen no longer work.
My question is twofold. If I were to get my hands on the right torx wrench, would it be worth my while to crack the case, and what should I do in there? I've never opened this particular computer, and I don't really even know how to do it, so advice there would be nice too.

I've opened numerous desktop Macs for "surgery" however, and work on Wintels in my workstudy job at college. The second part of my question is, is there a way to adjust the contrast controls in software... I know that I can adjust the brightness and have found numerous softwares to do that. It stands to reason that contrast can be equally done, but I have yet to find the right software. The Monitors and Sound control panel, as well as Monitors have no help. The control panel Screen seems to be the right choice, but Mac OS 8 informs me that "This Control panel cannot be used with this Computer" when I try to open it.
Any advice would be helpful, I have no money to even send it in for repairs, never mind buy a new computer. :-/ But those G3 PowerBooks do look awfully sweet.

Thanks.

There is no software I know of to adjusting the contrast on a powerbook 520. Your best bet on this computer is to get it in to an Apple Authorized Service Provider and have them take a look at it. Even if you take it apart, there is nothing you can do with out parts.
Good luck and thanks for using nowonder.
