Hello,

we have at home two wireless routers which have the same network-name (ssid). One router sends on channel 10 (which has a weaker signal) and the other on channel 11 (which has a vey strong signal).

i am not able to change the network-name or channel of any of the routers.

The problem is now, that my notebook _always_ connects to channel 11, but i want it to connect to channel 10. With my IBM notebook i can select which channel i want to connect to, but under mac os x (tiger) i dont see to have this setting.

Or is there a chance to set the channel it should connect to?

thank you
matthew

If the router is Airport, you can use airport admin. It sounds like you have a PC router, and not sure, you will have to check with the company. More than likely to get out of it, they will say no support for OSX.

Airport admin is available for windows. I don't think that is what you need.

Thank you for your reply.

I just have the possibility to change something (install any utility) on my powerbook G4 (1,67mhz).

the routers are as they are, and they work on "WLAN" and the two channels i posted earlier.

but how do i say my notebook: "please connect to wlan on channel 10. do not try to connect to other channels"?

any help would be appriciated.

thank you,
matthew
