Hi, I bought a powerbook 867 with jaguar two weeks ago.I did install the Tiger on it.
Some times the screen freezes and I can't move the cursor at all, so I need to force to turn off the computer.
Since I had the same problem with Jaguar before, I would like to know if could be a hardware problem.
Any clue?
Thanks

Hi Fernando
Does that problem happen at a specific time or is it random ? (a combination of applications running, too many of them, files that could be to big to handle, etc.)
In the Apple menu when you select "About this mac", what is the memory indicated ?
Otherwise you may just go back to the place you bought it since your acquisition is recent. It's better to fix the problem for once when it doesn't cost you anything ..

Hi,
Thanks for your response. The problem doesn't happen at a specific time, but it happens frequently.
I have 640 MB DDR SDRAM ( 128 Built in + 512 Brand new)
It just happened again while I was writing this.( I was also using StuffIt at the same time.)
On another occasion, the itunes was playing with the visualizer on, and the music started making a pulsating sound an the screen froze.
Can be my memory defective? The activity monitor shows that the memory is ok and working.
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide me

Hi,
you might want to "clean up" a little your system, many little problems can be fixed easily by doing one of the following :
-Run Macaroni (free demo at
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-...Macaroni.shtml )
-Repair disk permissions (in Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, click on your HD then "Repair permissions")
let me know if this helps
