Question Details
TICKET ARCHIVE -> Premiere Pro 2 After Effects 7 Windows
stresspro - Dec 20, 2006 - 11:02 am
I have invested a lot in Video editing software including Premiere Pro 2, After Effects Pro 2, DVD Encore, but am planning to switch to a imac machine in 2007. Will the firewire and rendering work with a BootCamped Mac? With Parallels?

Joe,
Bootcamp seems to work with most peripherals and I doubt you would have any trouble with it. I have used After Effects (Version 7 I think) in Windows XP Pro using Bootcamp beta without problem (didn't have a firewire camera though). The graphics and processing are almost identical in benchmarking stats to Mac OS X, so you shouldn't have any trouble with processor intensive or graphics intensive applications under Windows. You may want to wait until Mac OS X 10.5 is released however, since technically BootCamp is in beta until then and is therefore not entirely perfect.
I do not know how well Parallels would handle it, certainly there would be a speed reduction factor but I do not know what this would be.
Best of luck and happy holidays,
Kyle
