Preview.app is supposed to open Postscript, .ps and .eps files. On one of my computers running OS X 10.4 does it without any problems. On another computer Preview crashes each time when I try to open Postscript files. It says: Converting Postscript File to PDF... and never finishes, so I need to Force Quit it. Obviously something is wrong with the settings of my second computer, but I cannot understand what could it be. I repaired permissions, checked my hard drive etc, but nothing helps. Since this in fact my main computer and I work with Postscript and use Preview.app very often, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Is it perhaps a problem with the version of Preview (the version of the OS) on the other computer? Why haven't you installed 10.4 on both computers? Maybe reinstalling Preview would do the trick.
Thanks for answering. I have 10.4.3 on both computers, and I reinstalled Preview on the computer on which it does not work. It did not help. I wonder maybe some other applications which are installed on one of these computers(Adobe...) automatically changed something in the way Preview works, or maybe I need to reinstall Tiger. But the problem is that I have a disk with Tiger 10.4, and it would not let me painlessly reinstall because I already have 10.4.3.
You could try the intermediary occasional solution of reinstalling the 10.4.3 combo update. Sometimes that fixes these minor glitches that spring up after a smaller update, like 10.4.2 to 10.4.3.

Otherwise, I imagine a full reinstall is your best bet. That's where high speed Internet is useful, because the only way to go is to reinstall 10.4 and then run Software Update twice.
