I just changed over to Mac from wintel earlier this month. The problem is my home printer is a one-year old Minolta color laser printer. I just discovered that Minolta says it does not have a driver for the Mac OS.
Has anyone perhaps come up with a way of making the Minolta 2300W work with Mac OS X? It would be terrible to have a useless but very expensive on my hands!
Are you adventurous?
There is an open source driver. You have to install it in three parts. Start with foomatic (PPD interpreter) and ESP ghostscript (universal printer driver) from here:
http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/foomatic/
Then go to this page and click on the "Download m2300w" button. You want the file "m2300w-0.51.tar.gz."
http://sourceforge.net/projects/m2300w/
Sorry, this last file needs to be compiled. Unstuff with Stuffit Expander. Read the file "INSTALL" to get instructions.
Sounds inconvenient, but seems to work. Wish I could help you with some real experience using it.
Good luck.
