Knowledge Level: Intermediate

Problem: Combination
Computer Type: Apple
Model: PowerMac 6500/300
RAM: 64meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
Ever since I installed OS 8 and now 8.1 I have to go to my chooser and select my printer before I can print. If I don't, I get a warning that says my printer can't be identified or is not hooked up correctly when in fact it is hooked up ok. I run OS 8.1 at work and I'm connected to 2 printers and don't have this problem. The printer I use at home is an Epson Stylus 600. Have you heard of this problem and can you help? The problem is not critical just an annoying extra step.

Thanks

Hi welcome to Nowonder

Will give you several suggestions to try. Go into your Apple Talk Control panel and set it from Printer Port to Remote only. Set the chooser then try that.

Also go into your extension manager and uncheck desktop printer spooler and desktop print monitor and if you have it Quickdraw GX. See if that helps. If not let me know. Best regards sharona@nowonder
