we have a 970Cse (DeskJet) and when we try to print it says "unable to open printer connection check your connection and check for printing errors." How? any ideas would be appreciated.

Have you tried deleting the printer and adding it again? in Printer Setup Utility/Print Center.

Has it worked before? Have you tried setting up the gimp-print (CUPS/UNIX printing) driver instead? What about updating to the latest version of the HP Deskjet drivers?

No ideas. Must have had a glitch that you scared away. Shall we close this thread until you have problems again? What did you do between my last reply and this one?

We could chat for 20 minutes about why you're using Word at all, and then why you're using it in Classic instead of OS X, but I'll just cut to the chase for the moment. Your friend was probably referring indirectly to the printer driver. Is Word the only Classic app you use?, or the only one that has this problem? Have you downloaded and installed the OS 9 drivers for this printer?
