My printer is not working.. duh.
But I am connecting it to the computer, and have the software downloaded, but when I push print, it just doenst repond..
I think I have tried fixing all the basics,
making sure everything is connected, when on print page making sure the correct printer is chosen.. etc.

Help Please!

Oh and the printer is a MP460 Canon

Have you looked in Print & Fax preferences to see if the printer is "Added" to the printer list?

yes i have, and yes the printer is added, and yes it is set as the printer to be used or however you say it..

OK - it's the default printer.
When you say the software is downloaded, do you mean you have downloaded and installed the latest driver from canon.com? I don't know if you are using Leopard (10.5) but a lot of drivers have changed for that.

Is this a new computer?
Please tell me your version of OS X.
Is that a new printer?
Have you ever been able to print from that computer (to another printer, for example)?
Do you have a friend with another computer that can try to use the printer, just to be sure the printer works?

the os version is 10.5.1.
no i have had this computer for about 2 years give or take.. and was able to print from it earlier in the year..
it is able to copy from the scanner and print the image out.
as for checking with another computer i will try as soon as i can when my friend comes over.
i cheked the ink tanks and nothing is wrong with them...

OK thanks for giving me more info. I'd like to see if the friend can print before we start doing other things. Thanks for being patient.

well. i used my friends tablet pc, and the computer did not respond.
however it did say that it was offline..

i was printing to the wrong printer..

Well, the next "software" thing I recommend is - download the 10.5.2 Combo Updater (not software update) and update with that.
