Hi,

We just upgraded to Tiger and are having problems printing to an HP printer through InDesign. I looked to see if there were upgrades to the HP Printer driver and there are no upgrades. I reset the printing System and that didn't help.l I'm not sure what to do next.

Does anyone know of any bugs and or options?

Thanks,

Susan

Hi Susan - my name is Dale and I'll try to answer your questions.
First, which HP printer do you have? And how is it connected to your computer?
Most recent printers are available through Tiger without installing any other software, but there are some exceptions.
What exactly happens when you try to print from InDesign? Nothing happens? Get an error window (what does it say?)? Prints (a page is delivered but quality is poor, even blank), double-prints. Other?
Are you able to print OK from any other software? If you haven't tried, open TextEdit, type a few words, and send to the printer as a test.

Have you installed the August 2004 update for InDesign?

Let me know how it goes...

Dale,
Thanks for replying!!!!

Here is as much info that I can think of:

None of our hp printers work. We also have a Xerox printer, but that works.

The most important printer that is connected via a USB port is a Large format HP 800 ps 42". What happens when I go to print is: the print window comes up and when I click on the print button, nothing happens. I can't change the size to be printed and the printer comes up as generic. When I look in the printer set up utility it says that the driver is installed and available.

Thank you sooooo much for your help

have you tried a test print to the DesignJet 800ps, using a different app (such as TextEdit) I know that on a wide format, you don't want to waste paper, but you should try a few different things, such as a test from an app that you wouldn't usually use.
If you can print from other apps, you may need pro support from HP, or Adobe on this.

Hope this helps you...

And, the only app that you can't print from (using that HP 800), is InDesign CS ?

Ah, these are all Adobe. Talk to Adobe about this... There may even be a quick FAQ about Tiger at the Adobe.com support area.
