TICKET ARCHIVE -> Printing In Quark On Epson Stylus C84

I just crossed over (well, it felt like it) from Classic to Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). I do production work in Quark and want to finally print accurately (bleeds/separations). Can I do this by using a plug-in for the driver of my Epson Stylus C84, which is not a PostScript printer? I found in my online research something called Gimp Print. And a Gimp Print Printer Driver Package automatically came installed with my OS, right? (I Sherlocked and found it.) Or do I need to download the latest Quark plug-ins (I also bought new Quark software in this transition)? Or do both?

To recap the order, in case it's important: I archived and installed (don't ask), I reinstalled Quark, I reinstalled my Epson Stylus C84 printer and upgraded with a download from the site (and tech support on the phone). Still, I cannot print bleeds or separations in Quark. Neither can I print EPS files with smooth edges.

Help. Not so technically saavy. Ugh.

Thank you in advance,
Kate

Hi Kate,

Your main problem is that you are trying to print PostScript to a non-PostScript device.

There are several PostScript emulators you can buy which can solve your problem. You will need to search for them and choose one that suits your neeeds and budget.

Probably the quickest, best and easiest solution, though, is to use PDF. Print your seps and bleeds out of QXP to PDF and then print those out of Acrobat.

Hope that helps

Okay, thanks! I'll root around in the Acrobat Help. Less drastic. Whew.
