I just recently purchased an M-box for my Desktop G5 2.o dual processsor. every time I've installed the sofftware and tried to run the pro tools program i keep getting a message that says that the program is already running in another program/folder. I can't open the filess to get a recording, and, yes...I have installed the software correctly. Please help.

Check here for MBox/Software/System requirements:

I noticed that using OS 10.3.9 is not recommended. What's your current op system? 10.4? You might be a bit ahead of Digidesign at the moment…

Check the link I provided. There it states there isn't yet functionality for Tiger and MBox.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll close the ticket. Hope I helped, though it's probably not what you wanted to hear!

you're right, that's not what I wanted to hear and I've heard it all week from the music stores in my area. I'm so pissed. I made this huge investment in a computer and music software and only to find out that I'll have to wait till early winter before the drivers are released.
I have another question.... How do I rip a movie like the dvd shrink for PC. is there a mac version of it, or do I have to go to mac the ripper and use popcorn to compress, and if so, I've tried this and I still can't get a good copy. I keep getting (media file error 7001. Ok so this is more than one question, sorry. Can you help me, or is this a tiger update problem. If I switch to Panther will all my troubles be fixed???

Just remember that there are always bugs to work out, and not every company is ready when apple decides to upgrade its op system…And, normally I follow the rule that says when a new op system comes out, wait till everyone ELSE tests it out for you so you can see what the bugs are. I know when you buy a new mac you don't have much choice on this so take this advice with a grain of salt.
About the video compression. There's lots of programs so I recommend some internet research, but I've heard Sorenson Squeeze is pretty good at DVD compression.
Sorry the answer wasn't what you were looking for. I would say that Panther is probably your better bet as far as Digidesign is concerned.

Howdy! I read your feedback and just wanted to say it's not necessarily a mac problem but the system not having a working update from digidesign.
Of course I think Apple should take it a bit slower and test their systems longer before issuing them because they really are quite buggy.
As far as system performance, it's really hard to determine just by looking at the numbers which computer is faster because overall speed is a combination of RAM, MHz and even the connection between the two.
I'm sorry your experience was less than stellar. If you wanted to try again, try to get a hold of 10.3 Panther instead of jumping in with Tiger 10.4.
We'll be here for you if you ever come back.

And really, everything's going UNIX anyway so soon there may not even be much difference between PC'S and Macs.
