Ok, I know how to change file associations in generalÖ
Choose a file, Right click, getinfo, change open with to desired application...

My problem is that as soon as I click on Change All, the file associations revert back to the previous ones. I tend to use a lot of non-default mac applications, and this is really getting to me.

Any help would be appreciated.
thanks

Hello Ben

thanks for using macosx.com and I will do my best to advise and assist you.

I have had this problem myself - using the change all REFUSES to hold the change - so changing all PDFs to use Acrobat and not Preview (for example) just won't stick....

I have no "magic answer" but the following have helped me in the past to make this stuff work right - try a tool such as OnyX, YASU, Xupport, Leopard Cache Cleaner or MacHelpMate (Google them, they're all easy enough to find) and working up from the "lightest" to "heaviest" solution try running Cron (or "maintenance" scripts), cleaning caches, and as a last resort update prebinding or clearing the Locate Database...

If that all went over your head come back and I will discuss it at more length if you require...
