I've upgraded to Leopard and am having a problem getting parallels to work. The program itself starts, but when I click to start the virtual machine, I get the following message:

"Parallels Desktop is unable to attach to the network adapter unknown. If this is the first time you see this message, please reboot your computer and start your virtual machine again. Otherwise please check your virtual machine's configuration and select another network adapter, or you will not be able to work with network connections inside your virtual machine."

When I check the settings however, it is set to network adapter 1.

Where do I go from here??

Thanks for you help.

Rory,

All you need to do is uninstall Parallels using the Uninstall located on the Disk Image it was downloaded on. Reboot your system, then re-install Parallels. Your Parallels virtual machines will NOT be uninstalled and will be available after you re-install.

I had to do this recently and it worked like a charm and because the uninstall/install process is pretty quick, it took no time at all.

Let me know how it works for you.

Scott,

I did as you suggested, and I got this message:

"File /Users/rory/Library/Parallels/winxp/winxp.pvs seems to be not a valid Parallels virtual machine configuration file!"

I can't seem to get further than that. It's as if there is no trace of any virtual machine.

Help.....:=)

Sounds like you just need to re-map it. Just go in and choose a new virtual machine and locate your previous pvs file wherever it was stored. I typically store mine on another drive, so I have to go and remap it.

Scott,

I'm sorry that I did not get back to you in response to your help.

Anyhow, I've kinda got things going with parallels again. Just a couple of final things to resolve:
1 - The parallels control window that comes up when you launch the program looks different to the previous "look"...I'm not sure how better to describe it. In any event I'm not sure how much of a problem this is, but I'd like the previous "look" back if possible.
2 - Windows always seems to open in a full screen format now. I'd really like to have it open as a "window" on my Mac OS desktop, and I can't seem to make that happen.
