I have a Lexmark X75 that is connected to my Windows Desktop computer.
On my G3 running Tiger 10.4.9, I can see the printer over the network when I go into System Prefs > Print & Fax > Add > More Printers > etc.
The printer can be selected; however, when I attempt to print nothing comes through.
I downloaded the drivers for the printer from the Lexmark website, but it keeps wanting to find the printer connected to the PC via USB when I do this.
Is there something I am missing in the setup process?

Yes, you are missing this vital piece of info:
Standard print protocols in OS X are provided by CUPS, the open source print control system. There are two programming interfaces for drivers on OS X - CUPS and Carbon (an OS 9 legacy system). So far, among manufacturers, only Brother has provided drivers that work completely through CUPS. All the other drivers (including Lexmark's) use Carbon. In the Carbon drivers, you specify which comm protocol to use. Your Lexmark driver was written to ONLY use USB.
To use a Windows-shared printer, you need to find a network-capable (CUPS) driver. Search here:
http://www.linux-foundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX
or, alternatively, set the PC up to be a postscript RIP server:
http://iharder.sourceforge.net/curre...winmacprinter/
(you'll be sending postscript to the PC and it will do the translation to the printer language)

I am at work right now, but I will try out the PS RIP Server idea. I will leave the case open until I have tested things out.

I got all the items installed and performed the prinetr setup on my Windows XP machine. The test page printed successfully in Windows. Tonight, I will be setting up the Mac to connect to this "printer" and performing a test print.

I have configured the printer on my G3, but it is failing to connect. I have gone to the Windows Firewall settings and opened up port 515, as well as doing the same on my router (Belkin Wireless Router).
I believe I am overlooking something, but I am not sure what.

Try this:

or
http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3002.html
You are entering the shared name from the PC as the queue name, right?
Opening the port 515 on the router allows people "outside" your local network access to the PC - turn that off.

I am needing a little more time to work on this issue before we can close the case.

I have no control over how long this gets held "open." But as far as I can tell, you just post to it and it gets reopened.
