Is Norton Anti Virus the best program for Mac OS X 10.3.9? I have an iBook G4.
I use Disk Warrior and would like to know if there are any other programs I should install or use to keep my computer running well.
Thank you for your help.
Amy
Amy,
Your question is a tough one to answer - there is so much good software out there and just as much junk.
I can tell you that Disk Warrior is an excellent piece of software. Also, there is currently a security issue with Norton Anti Virus and the current thoughts are to uninstall it until Symantic issues an update to correct the problem (check out
www.macresource.com).
To better answer your question I will need to know how deeply you want to get into things. OS X is an incredibly reliable and robust system and it does very well on its own. It comes with all kinds of utilities for doing all kinds of things including Disk Utility for diagnosing and correcting disk drive problems. It also has the capability to repair your disk permissions.
If you don't already you might consider reading MacAddict and MacHome for their software reviews and other Mac related stuff. Also, there are a number of informative WEB sites like MRP (see above) and
www.macfixit.com.
If you have specific questions about specific software or specific support issues submit these as questions here on macosx.com and we will try to answer them.
