TICKET ARCHIVE -> Quark 6.5 Font recognition

When I use Quark 4.1 and scroll down the font menu the font names appear in their style (ie Zapf dingbats look like a row of dingbats), however in Quark 6.5 the fonts appear as a list of names.

Am I missing an Xtension? or do I need to get some additional bolt-on software to do this?

Thanks

Hi Skindeep,

Displaying the font menu in QXP 4.1 was a function of ATM (or was it Type Reunion? I forget!) The ATM control panel was included in OS 9 and earlier. This function is not built in to OS X, though.

You don't say what application (if any) you are using for font management in OS X. You can do the same thing with Extensis Suitcase. Of course, if you only have a few fonts, it's hardly worth the outlay. If, like me, you have thousands of the d@mned things, then Suitcase is invaluable, especially as OS X's Font Book is useles for handling more than a few fonts.

I wouldn't get too excited about it though as, if you use any 3rd party fonts, using this function can a) take up a LOT of System resources, and b) make your whole system unstable and liable to crashing. As I mentioned earlier, that funcion you are looking for is available in Suitcase, but I never use it as fonts that aren't 100% perfect will crash the system.

Hope that helps,

CQ
