This is not a tech question, but I do not see a place to ask this question.

I have a Mac running OSX version 10.4.11 and have Quark 6.5. Previous to buying this computer, I used QXTools on a previous version of Quark. There was one tool I really liked and used a lot in QXTools. It was QXScaler. I do not want to buy the entire QXTools package to get that one extension. Is there another scaler tool that can be purchased separately?

Thanks!

You can always post here for personal service or Forums/Design for a more open forum setting.

From what I know about Quark (13 years of print experience) 6 and above you can click and drag corners to scale them. Is that what you want? Then I don't think you need the plug in anymore.

No, I mean I want to group several things, art and type and reduce or enlarge all of them at one time. QXTool Scaler did just that. But I don't want to buy the whole QXTools to just get that one. Need an extension that just does that.
Thanks!

Right, what I'm saying is you can already do that without an extension. Give it a shot. Group some objects and then click and drag a corner; I believe the scaling should occur. Let me know if it works, it's been a while since I used Quark because I switched to InDesign in 2004.

I do still use Quark from time to time...

Tried taking a logo and four different sets of copy blocks. Grouped them and tried to reduce the size by pushing one corner up. All that did was bunch up the copy and made the box around the logo smaller, but not the logo.

QX Scaler would take all that and make it a percentage smaller or bigger (i.e.: the type size would be smaller or larger).

If there is not a standalone scaler, I guess I will have to spend $159 to buy the whole suite—easier than doing all parts by hand individually. Durn!

I would switch to In Design, but I am really retired and just finishing up some things for a couple of clients.

Thanks for you help.

I guess it's just quark version 7 that allows grouped scaling. Have you tried holding option key down while scaling?

Should we close this thread?

I'll try that. Yep. close 'er up. Thanks for your responses. I will go ahead and order QXTools when I get some invoices paid.
