Quark has been consistantly quitting in the middle of a job and it's not happening after a specific action. This problem happens on all three of our Macs all using OS 10.4.3 and Quark 6.5. We have contacted Quark, did what they said (throw out prefs, reinstall) but problem still exists. Quark had blamed the problem on the system but no other program has this problem. Is there a fix for this problem? What can we do?

Howdy!
So, what font management program are you using?
Have you tried turning off all quark extensions and then turning them on one by one to see which one might be causing the problem?
Describe your documents in detail and we'll take it from there. Do you have lots of placed images? Do you work from a server?
Let me know and we'll tackle this. I have helped many others with Quark 6.5 and Tiger; unfortunately Quark is slow to react to these issues.

Hey Nathaniel!
We are working from the server (Mac G4 Tiger). I believe we found that the Auto Activation xtension for Suitcase might be causing the problem. We're not sure. Many of the docs that we would work on had very minimal amount of placed images where Quark would just quit out. I think that we might switch to Font Agent Pro. I hear many good things about the program. Of the Macs, 1 is still running Panther and the three others Tiger. All have the problems equally. Quark is really grating on our nerves!
Thanks so much for the response!

I've heard the same thing about the autoactivation in combination with Quark. Should I close this thread?

Have you heard anything about Font Agent Pro? Any problems with Quark?
Natobasso - Dec 5, 2005 - 5:10 pm
I heard FontAgent Pro was actually better than Suitcase for your application needs.
Do you store all your fonts on the server or on individual machines?
Ron Houghton - Dec 5, 2005 - 5:44 pm
Right now on individual machines but planning to set up everything on a server.

Sounds good, but have you also seen the workgroup edition? can function using Rendevouz and doesn't require a server to operate:

Just a thought, though I have to admit since I've been working on macs I've only used Suitcase on individual machines so this is new territory for me.
I do know Quark has a hard time with fonts on a server, but it's possible the latest Tiger updates are resolving these issues.
