i was turning my (getting old emacg4)on this morning.i saw the question mark for a sec when i turned it on & it took awhile to boot i saw the little rainbow ball a couple of times.my luck is getting bad with this thing.im online now.what shold i do maintenence wise to head off a crash or whatever is gonna happen.i try to take care of this thing and am getting ready to do a full reinstall with panther so i can get rid of quicktime 7.1.1 & get my pro tools rig back in shape.maybe just start over and clean it up.but i dont want to start until these little issues are squared away..thanks again, benny

Benny,

What you experienced was the computer searching for the System folder. You have to tell it where that system folder is for it to stop the search each time you start up.

Go to System Preferences>Startup Disk.
When that opens, give it time to find all the system folders.
Now click on the Os X folder that you have.
Close the System Preference window.

Now the next time you start up, it should automatically start up without the question mark.
