Description:
Running Quicken 6 and tried to save a copy of 1999 files. Message comes up "Corrupt List in Level" OK the box, and wait.

Will get the file but must reenter lots of info that was just entered a few days ago.

Any way to rebuild DB file like in Claris Emailer? Tried the OPTION key in Q6 but did not work.

Does Quicken 98 have these problems??

Thanks for whatever help you can offer.

Hello Carl:

Sounds like a corrupted data file is your problem. Have you tried the regular roster of Mac system checks including:

1. Have you run any system diagnostics (Norton Utilities, Disk Aid)?
2. Have you re-built your desktop?
3. Have you zapped PRAM?

If so and you still have the problem, I suggest the following steps to cleanse the errant pieces of the file.

1. Export the data file to a plain text format using Quicken menus.
2. Import the exported text file into a NEW data file.

This process typically loses any damaged records, so you may have to re-enter record and/or re-balance accounts. In the future, I would suggest making BACKUP copies of all data files at the time you quit the application, in this case Quicken. The best case is to save it to another disk, like a Zip drive so that your backup and original data file are not located on the same disk.

Quicken 98 does not have inherent data file problems like the one you mentioned. However, I would recommend "cleansing" your file, as above, prior to converted from Quicken 6 to Quicken 98.

Hope this helps.
