Alright, you've probably been bombarded with this already and are sick of hearing about it. I've tried many message boards, deleting, reinstalling, going back to 7.3 (but cannot install it because the 7.4 version is still on my system). Here is my beef. I paid for the codec to play mpegs. 7.4 does not. I think Apple should fix this and we (all users) should not have to do so much work to get the thing to work.

Warm regards,
Adam

Have you tried to download QuickTime 7.3.1 and then install it using Pacifist:

http://www.charlessoft.com/Pacifist.dmg

If you want to be sure to overwrite all the files used by QuickTime you could install using Pacifist. There is a interesting discussion on the subject here:

Go down to the third posting by the user Klaus1 in the tread.

Very disappointing. IF Mac is great, Mac is wonderful, why can't we just delete the QT application and start fresh??? Reverting to a previous version of the Mac OS X is unacceptable in my opinion. Apple should give us a program to uninstall THEIR problematic software, thus allowing us to revert to a previous version.

FYI, I have tried Pacifist. No luck.

Could you explain in some detail what you did with Pacifist to install QuickTime 7.3.1?

There was a whole lot of file writing, as I would expect with an install. But when I checked the QT version, no change. And I tried restarting, but still I had QT 7.4 not 7.3(.1 I think).
