When I tried to update to Quicktime 7.0.1 on my system running OS 10.3.9, it completed the install, told me to restart. Upon restart something happened. Quicktime is not working. It trys to open but nothing happens. I read another thread about trashing some stuff and reinstalling and tried that. When I try the 6.5.2 reinstaller, it tells me I can't install because a proper version of Quicktime is not installed. When I try the 7.0.1 installer it tells me that a newer version is installed. I even tried grabbing every file that came up under a search for Quicktime, dragging it from my networked ibook to it's proper location on my G4 (where I've been having the problem). Still no luck. iTunes is also not working, I'm asumming it relys on Quicktime. I'm afraid to reinstall the OS because I've put so much time into installing other apps etc.., I'd really like to avoid having to start from scratch. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
You may need to install the fix for QT7:
b There is now a definitive fix, noted by a number of readers, including Mike Barron who describes the remedial process, step-by-step:
1. Quit Quicktime
2. In System Preferences-> International, change your language to something other than what it is set to.
3. Quit System Preferences (and then some people need to log out and log back in, though I did not).
4. Relaunch System Preferences and change the language back to your preferred setting.
5. Try Quicktime again. "Show Movie Properties..." should now work.
If you still wish to remove 7.0.1 and reinstall 6.5.2, then you need to use the correct re-installer. For QT 7.0.1 you need to use
this one.
