Description:
My iMac keeps freezing up. The manual tells me to keep notes but I am doing something different each time it happens. I can't see how fiddling with the extensions would help in this case because I cant go back to see if it happens again.
It might, or it might not.
Force Quit does not respond either. The only remedy I have found is to reset with the paper clip hole.
This has happened from the start.
The only software I have added since is Quickbooks 4.0
I purchased the iMac from MacWarehouse with a 64mb upgrade installed.

Thanks

David,

Thanks for turning to No Wonder with your question. The first thing you should try when problems like this creep up is to run Apple's Disk First Aid. You should run it off the CD that came with your iMac instead of running it off the hard drive. Simply startup using the iMac's system CD and run Disk First Aid. In most cases it will eliminate your problems and you can continue working as normal. However, if it doesn't solve your problem you may need to look to other sources for aid. It's always helpful to have a copy of Norton Utilities 4.0 or TechTool Pro 2.0 on hand in this situations in case Disk First Aid doesn't solve your problem. Many times, these two utility programs can fix problems that Disk First Aid can't handle. However, since you mentioned that you had recently installed Quickbooks 4.0, you may also want to check the Intuit web site to see if there is an update for that program. While you do have the latest version of Quickbooks for the Mac it is still a relatively old program by many standards and may cause problems with some of your newer software and the latest operating system form Apple. Check the following web site for an update to Quickbooks that may help your situation . If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at No Wonder.

Thanks,
Jim
