Description:
What pgm do I use to read attached mail that has been sent to me? I have tried Decoder 1.3.5 PPC, Graphic Converter, Mime YA-Base64, Mpack and Stuffit Expander. None seem to work. The files end with .doc, .zip, .pdf, .mim, .wpd. I am using AOL to download the file from my mail box. The files are coming from either a Mac or a PC, don't know the ISP they are using to send the mail. There must be some way to do this.
Thanks in advance
Jim

Hi Jim!
The .doc file extension belongs to a document file (usually Microsoft Word). You can probably open it using MacLinkPlus and ClarisWorks. If not you may be able to find a Word Viewer at Microsoft's Web site,
http://www.microsoft.com .
The .zip file extension belongs to PC Compressions. You can open these files on your Mac using the AOL Software (File -> Open). You can also search Download.com, http:/www.download.com , for ZipIt.
The .pdf extension is a Portable Document Format file. Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to open these files. You can download the file at Adobe's Web site,
http://www.adobe.com , or Download.com.
The .mim extension belongs to Mime Files. A Mime Utility should be able to open these.
And last, but not least, .wpd belongs to Word Processing Documents. I am not sure whether they are ClarisWorks or Word Perfect. You may want to try double clicking on the file and have MacLinkPlus try to open it.
I hope this helps!
