Thanks for your reply Michelle. I already did it. However when I try to install that download I get an error message saying: iChat AV cannot be installed on this computer. This update if for versions of Mac OS X 10.3.

Which makes sense since this powerbook is a OS X 10.4

I thought I could just install it from the CD's that came with the computer. It must be there somewhere, I guess.

Hi Christian

In the future, when you need to continue a question with a Tech that you've been working with, continue with the same link.

Adding information to a question using the New Question puts it in the Open Pool of questions, and your original tech may not even see it.

As for reinstalling iChat in Tiger, you can do a Custom install from the Toger disk. This page will guide you;

Thanks Bob fo the info and advice. Sorry I thought I had to ask a new question.

I install ichat already. However I notced everytime I open the program it hangs or
takes to long to do about anything. If I click any where appears a rainbow spining disk that last for minutes and wont let me do anything.

It is possible that I did something wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Open this;

user>library?preferences

In that Preferences folder, there are several iChat plist. Trash any you find and try iChat.

With all programs closed, open Disk Utility in your Utility folder. Use that to Repair Permissions.

Next, boot off the Tiger disk by holding the C key down while booting. After you see the Installer window, go up to the Utility Menu to Disk Utility and Repair Disk. If it finds any errors, run it again until no errors are found. Then restart normally and try iChat.

I did that. Several files had permissions problems. Now all of them are corrected. No HD problems found, however, iChat does not wanna run smoothly yet.

This is a looping test account for iChat;

appleu3test01

See if you can connect to that.

It just shows someone sitting on a plane with a laptop.

Hi Bob,

I tried that account but didn't work neither. iChat hangs when is seting up Bonjour stuff, it wont pass this point.

Hi Bob,

Actually I just tried to run the iChat application from the terminal shell, following my linux instincts. I got the following result on the Terminal screen after executing in the command line:

[cris@fulgencio ~]$/Applications/iChat.app/Contents/MacOS/iChat
2005-08-08 12:59:25.261 iChat[840] WARNING: Exception while initializing service (null): [NOTE: this exception originated in the server.]
*** Object does not implement or has different method signature
2005-08-08 12:59:25.280 iChat[840] WARNING: Exception while initializing service (null): [NOTE: this exception originated in the server.]
*** Object does not implement or has different method signature
2005-08-08 12:59:25.297 iChat[840] WARNING: Exception while initializing service (null): [NOTE: this exception originated in the server.]
*** Object does not implement or has different method signature

This result is quite abnormal, because any other application won't show any of these exception errors

Delete the iChat plist files again, then download and run the 10.4.2 Combo Update here;

http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...1042combo.html

After it's finished, try iChat.
