having problems with iPhoto on my Mac Book. The photos disappear from my library. I can find them in my hardrive but can't seem to make them stay put in my photo library.
is anyone else having this problem? I've verified permissions...tried deleting thumbs but no go.
someone suggested reinstalling iphoto from the start up disk but unsure how to do this without reinstalling everything else.
can you talk me through it?
thanks

Right now the pictures are in my library and seem to be staying there. But I'm unable to email them using my mail program. do you suggest reinstallation?

Hi Phillippe,
well, I reinstalled iphoto from the install disk and still can't email or edit pics.
I get a gray field with an exclamation mark where the pic should be. Please advise. What's up and what should I do?
thanks

Hold the alt + command (apple) keys when double-clicking on the iPhoto program and select "rebuild the iPhoto library" option.
Post back answers
("?" means corrpted pics, hope that rebuild will fix them)

Nope. tried the rebuild option but no change.
Again...when I select a picture to Edit...all I get is a gray field and an ! (exclamation point not a question mark if that makes a difference) where the picture would be.
When I select email option, I get the field to choose picture size but after selecting a small field appears only momentarily and then disappears. But
no email.

And if, through the Finder, you browse your folder Images (iPhotoLibrary/Modified/
/), can you double-click on images to view them (in Preview, I guess) ?

Ok.
------------A-----------------
Quit iPhoto
Open the iPhoto library folder.
Find AlbumData.xml.
Drag it to the Desktop.
Open iPhoto while holding down option-shift. It will now ask if you want to rebuild the library. iPhoto will now rebuild and repair the Library..well I guess
If not,
-------B----------------------
Testing if iPhoto Library is not corrupted..
1. Just make a copy (alt+drag) (from the photo folder, not from iPhoto itself) to the Desktop of some (2 or 3) pics that you can view in Preview but not in iPhoto.
2. Move the whole iPhoto library to another location (as a backup folder):
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93603
3. Relaunch iPhoto. As iPhoto is not abled to find a library, it will prompt you to create one. Answer yes and select you classical Images folder to receive the new library.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...en/hlp156.html
4. Now, import the few pics from the Desktop.
If they are well imported (well displayed in iPhoto, ..), surely that your old library was corrupted; you have to reimport all you pics from the backup...after having deleted the few pics of test
If they're not well imported....well...in this case, I run out ideas

My photos seem to be staying put in iphoto library. but still can't edit or email using iphoto program.
I get a gray field with an exclamation mark in the center where the pic should be. Feel free to pass my case on if you've run out of ideas, Phil
thanks
