I'm not sure what happened to the body of my message, so here it is again:
I've downloaded and installed remote desktop connection for mac, but when I attempt to open it, it locks up. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Frank
What version of OS X are you using?
What Remote desktop did you download?

Yes, indeed. It seems to have installed successfully, it just wont start up, it locks and stays on the dock and bounces (cute, but not helpful).

Try Repairing Permissions using Disk utility in your Utility folder.

It did not help. Any other suggestions?

I would uninstall it, Repair Disk booted off the OS CD and Repair Permissions again, then reinstall and see if that helps.
What are you using this for?
You can use OSXvnc to control/observe both Macs and PCs;

The issue has been resolved. Apparently it was a rights issue. Once I logged into the machine as administrator, remote desktop worked fine. Thanks.
