Inserted a CD containing images, finished viewing, and ejected CD, but desktop icon remains on desktop. Will not go away after eject and restart.

Thanks in Advance

Might just be an alias to the original - does it have a little arrow bottom left of the icon?

Select the item and do GET INFO - what does it say in the KIND field?
If it is an alias, then just delete it.

What happens if you double-click it? If an alias I would expect you to be asked to insert the original CD.

Failing all that, what happens if you simply try to delete it?

Not an alias. On further thought, I'm sure it was a flash card, inserted in a reader, and not a CD. The icon is the small rectangular shape with the small slot in front, and "eject" or "delete", although it works temporarily, rebuilds after restart. It will open and it does contain files, which I can open easily.

On spotlight search, item shows up in "volumes" in the same icon, but I don't see it in finder window; not even in the desktop folder.

On "Get Info" Kind: Volume
Format: MS-DOS File System (FAT 16)
So, it's PC File, for whatever that's worth.

I think I may, after initial viewing of the files, have pulled the flash card before "ejecting" the file, but I've done that before and not have the file continue to reappear, and to have all the files accessable. I do not remember "saving" the contents, and in any event, had I done that I would be able to easily locate and delete the folder/files in question.

Thank You
