TICKET ARCHIVE -> Remove .mac menubar icon without account

The .mac preferences pane in OX 10.4.7 will not let me remove the sync icon from the menu bar without first establishing a .mac account (all the preferences are locked out without first providing account information).

Anybody know how to ditch this menubar icon without establishing a .mac account?

Have you tried opening iSync and setting your preference? Or, simpler have you tried Command+dragging it out? Perhaps you don't know you can Command+drag menu extras to move them around, just like in the Dock.
