TICKET ARCHIVE -> Restoring Address Book And Ical From Clone

I made a clone before erasing my Mac HD (it had an irreparable disk error). Unfortunately I can't boot from the clone (its a USB drive and isn't listed on the startup disk list).

I do need to restore my iCal and Address book entries though!

Can anyone help with either the boot or the file restoration issue?

I tried copying ~/library/application support/addressbook folder from the clone (original files) but addressbook still boots as if it was freshly installed.

iCal I haven't tried anything yet.

Thanks for nay help.

I just on the off chance tried copying the old folders (addressbook and iCal) into the application support folder and this time it worked!

I wonder if it didn't work last time because I then launched the app (addressbook) for the very first time, but anyway, I have answered my own question, thanks anyway whoever reads this.

Glad it worked.

FYI, best to backup/clone to Firewire based drives. I use these all the time and can sucessfully create a disk image which can be cloned back onto another machine using Carbon Copy Cloner. There are a number of clone/backup utilities out there that will do this.

You may also want to move your old iCal and ABook preferences, go to your old home directory then Library/Preferences/ copy the "com.apple.ical.plist" (4 of them) and "com.apple.addressbok.plist" files to the same location on your boot drive and all your old prefs will be restored.
