Pete, welcome to macosx.com

And welcome to the mystery of the routers.
I face the same problem you encounter: my router is connected
* to a DLINK Access point which redistributes the Wifi signal to a G3 and a G5
* through an Ethernet cable to another G3

And sometimes, let's say one time a month, all the machines loose the connection.

What I have discovered is that I can reduce -but no zero- the number of lost connection by assigning to each machine (included the DLINK) a stastic IP adress in the router's allowed range ("DHCP with static IP")

I do not play online games, but this borrying me also because my router is also dedicated to VoiceDSL: so rebooting the router will shutdown for some minutes my telephone line.
But, to be honest, this occurs only once a month

I already have discussion with my officie's system manager and he always reply that, either with home PCs or office big machines, when a piece of harware has to redirect streams from one source to several, it is quite normal that sometimes "the router looses its mind".
In my office (20 Unix machines and nearly 40 Windows ones), the main two routers which deliver IP adresses to all these machines are automatically rebooted every Sunday at 01 am. The complete reboot (including the access to our Web site) takes less than 2 minutes

Regards
Philippe
