I have a few questions

1/ is there any way to set the google bar in Safari to ask the australian google site rather than the .com site?

2/ How do you maximise a window to full screen like you can do in windows, i am finding that in mac the screen only goes bigger but does not fill the screen. is there a KB shortcut for this?

3/ is there a shortcut to return to desktop, or to bring it in front of other windows?

4/ How do i change my ipod operating mode from windows to mac?

5/ is there a full list of keyboard shortcuts somewhere?

thanks allot

Will

William,

I'm Tom and I shall try to answer all your questions.

1 The only way to change the Google bar in Safari is with third party software that sort of hacks safari. I have used Safari Enhancer to do just this job.
Careful with anything that "changes" safari though as I have come across a few problems resulting from "tweaking"! I have not personally found any problems with changing google address with Safari Enhancer.

2 You should find the green button will expand the window to show all of the page contents. Sometimes the window contents are smaller than the size of your screen and so the window will only expand to that size. there is no "button press" to maximise your window to the size of you screen like in windows. Its just different. I personally never use the green button. Its just what one is used to I guess, but I'm afraid you are going to have to "adapt" in this case.

3 shortcut to return to desktop. Well, if you mean in a finder window, there should be a desktop icon on the left hand icon bar. If not then just drag your desktop folder in your home folder to this area. You can also drag your desktop folder to the dock as short-cut route too. Even better is to use Expose (I am assuming you have a recent-ish version of OSX throughout this help!). Expose defaults to function keys 9,10 and 11. press them to see it working! I have changed my keys to f1,2 and 3 - you can set the keys in expose prefs in system prefs. You should find F9 displays all your open windows - just click on the one you want on top. F10 should display all open application windows and f11 moves all windows so you can see all of the desktop.

4 Ipod. Your ipod should work with your mac anyway. If you intend to use it solely with the mac you should reformat it for this use. I suggest you look at this page (Apple will explain it better than me!)...

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61671

(note you'll need to look at the link at the bottom of the page "ipod and how to restore" as well). Note A PC formatted ipod will work with a mac but a mac formatted ipod will not work with a PC.

5) A full list of shortcuts would fill a book and depend on what application you are using. Note that in all menus there is typically a keystroke associated with the menu command eg next to "Copy" in the file menu you will see ?c. If you go into Help menu from the finder and type "keyboard shortcuts" you will find plenty of lists to get you going.

Think I've covered it all!

feel free to get back to me if you need further help (or I've missed something!)

regards

Tom
