Safari can’t open the page.
Safari can’t open the page “
https://www-ssl.bestbuy.com/site/ols...questid=12523” because it couldn’t establish a secure connection to the server “www-.com”.
I keep getting this problem when i load sites that require a secure connection, netflix , hotmail, bestbuy, etc. How do i stop it ? What setting am i missing?

Hi John,
the first think that I can think about is a particular firewall setting... But I need to know something about your internet connection... are you behind a router, or you connect directly from your machine? are you using a dedicate firewall, or just the OS X's? are you using little snitch? can you connect to the https using other browsers (FireFox, etc..)?
And also, sorry if I ask too much questions, but can you specify your system specifications?

Stefano... Thanks for the reply. I am using a router but i am not using a dedicated firewall just OS X's. I can connect using internet explorer but haven't tried with firefox. Not sure what little snitch is exactly so i'm probably not using it. I'm on Tiger (this is when i first started gettin this error after installing tiger last w/e) 733 mhz G4, 1.12 gb of SDRam.
Let me know if there is anything else.
Thanks again for the help.
John

Ok, since you can connect with Explorer I would exclude that it is related to a problem in your netword settings... Little Snitch is a utility that monitors every application that try to contact remote servers, but since you have to download it and install it, well, if you don't know it i doubt that you have it on your machine.
In order to determine if it is a problem maybe due to something gone wrong during the installation process or just a pref file gone corrupted, have you tried connecting to https using Safari under another user account?
If you can't, I'd backup my bookmarks exporting them to the desktop, then I'd delete te com.apple.safari.plist file. Give it a try, and let me know if it works!
