Safari cannot open web pages (attachments received in MSN email). When I try to open one of the attachments, I get the message saying that it is going outside MSN. I hit okay, but it just keeps loading MSN, and not the web page.

Sherlock cannot open anything, and the results of searches with it seems a little strange....

HELP!

In some cases, websites are blocked from opening new windows by Safari's "Block pop-up windows" feature. I don't know about MSN mail specifically, but try unchecking this feature in the Safari menu. Also, make sure that javascript is turned on in the Safari preferences.

Kwan.

Thanks. But that doesn't fix it. Block pop ups is not activated, and javascript is on.

I can see I have emails with attachments on the email list, but when I open each email, the attachment isn't there. The problem seems to be a web problem which is affecting both Safari and Sherlock. It is not transfering the data.

In order to fix my problem, I followed insructions in response to a similar question (trashing the Webkit files, and reinstalling Safari, and using Disk Utility repair, etc.) but my attachments still can't be opened/disappear.

I think this started after I downloaded a few plug ins for mac. I deleted all of them (I think), but still with the problem.

I also looked inside my "internet plugins folder," but there is nothing in there.

I don't have the problem with any other web browser.

Any more ideas?

I just realised that you haven't mentioned which version of Mac OS or Safari you're using. Also, you're talking of Sherlock, which suggests that you might be using either Mac OS 9 or an earlier Mac OS X. (I don't know anyone personally who uses Sherlock anymore.)

If so, I can't help you. Sorry. I'll re-open this query to see if anyone else can help.

Thanks anyway, Kwan

MAC OS X 10.3.9. I hardly ever use Sherlock, but I read somewhere that what might be affecting Safari also affects Sherlock and Mail, so I checked, and this is indeed the case. So it has to do with some Mac program/application that opens a web page/address/email attachment. (since other browsers don't have the problem.) Wish me luck. (My previous reply printed three times because I hit the submit button too many times, thinking nothing had happened. I've only had a computer for a year now. So I'm really no expert. I've learned some by trial and error. I also checked with MSN, and they sent me a couple of ideas...let's see what happens.

Happy new year!
