When ever I save files it defaults to documents and not the last place opened. Only happens on a few of our macs not all. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

This behavior is usually application-specific and controlled by the application's preferences. For example, Microsoft Word gives you the option to set a default location for saving files, as do downloaded files from web-browsers, etc. Check the preferences files for the application(s) in question and I think you can make application file-saving behave as you would like.

Hope that helps and please let us know what happens. Thanks.
