Hi, I have a G4 notebook running on Tiger that will sometimes freeze when the screensaver kicks in?

Is it a screensaver from Apple or one you've installed yourself? Does it happen with more than one screensaver?

It's happening with the default screensaver. As for more then one, I can't say for sure, (its someone else's computer in the office) but the times I witnessed it its been the same screensaver, (foggy trees photo).

It could be something simple like a corrupt JPEG, although it seems very odd that such a thing could hang the OS.

Another question, is it actually hanging the OS or is it maybe just freezing the screensaver?

You might try changing to a different screensaver to see if the problem goes away. Or try opening the images in the slideshow that's being used using Preview and see if something nasty happens.
