As the subject says. I was using my iBook G4 and the battery went so low the system put itself in sleep. After a FULL recharge, I opened it back up and it didn't ask me for a password like I set it to. I shrugged this off and figured it was just what happens in emergency sleep mode. But now I have reset the system, unchecked, and checked again the box for it to prompt for password upon coming out of sleep and screensaver. Yet it STILL doesn't ask for a password.

Thanks!

If you haven't restarted since you woke up the computer, try that; if that doesn't help, boot into Open Firmware by holding down the command/option/O/F keys on restart. At the prompt, type

reset-nvram
reset-all

then type reboot. This should restore your system to normal function regarding the password issue. If it doesn't, use a utility called Yasu (or Onyx or Cocktail or maintain1, all do the same things) to delete your Finder, user and System caches and reboot.

HTH and please let us know what happens. Thanks.
