Description:
Hello,
I have a question. It is: In order to use Disk Copy scripts, (I want to make a single file into several floppies), I am assuming that the scripts must be placed into the Scripting Additions folder, in order to be used. Is this true? Is it also true that any or all scripts must be placed in the Scripting Additions Folder, in order to be used. Please pardon my ignorance. Thank you.

Hi Steven Savary,

> scripts must be placed into the Scripting Additions folder
Nope.

Scripting Additions folder is for OSAXs (Objective Scripting Addition Extensions). These add new commands and things that your scripts can use. But the scripts are just files or applications (if saved as an application from the Script Editor). Script files will open in the Script Editor. Applications will run like normal apps. And they all can be put anywhere.

Note: The Scripting Additions Folder can reside in the System Folder or the Extensions Folder (or both). MacOS 8.0+ started putting it in the System Folder, so I am personally moving any OSAXs from the Extensions folder "Scripting Additions" folder to the one in the System Folder. It doesn't really matter.

Let me guess, you can't run the splitter script. I've never seen it, but assuming it works as advertised, you need to make sure AppleScript is setup on your machine so it can run.

In your Extensions Manager (go down the Apple Menu to Control Panels), enable the following extensions: AppleScriptLib and AppleScript™. (Apple Events extension duplicates part of the AppleScript™, so you don't really need it if you have AppleScript™ activated). Restart.

If you still have problems, email me, and I'll check out the actual script on my machine and see if there's anything else to watch out for.
