I updated our server, and now after logging in, I can only open workgroup manager using the system password, not the 'diradmin' user I created.

Not only that, all of my users seem to have disappeared, as if the server is running local...

The actual network share point for each network user is still there and seems intact, but it seems like the server has lost the mapping for each account.

Any Ideas....???

Thank you in advance.

Thanks Again,
Tim

Hi Tim,

Can you tell me a bit more about your server setup? Like, which server version and which version you updated to? How is your OD/LDAP setup?
Do you have a recent Directory/OD Domain backup?

In the Workgroup Manager, can you browse (log on) to the OD/LDAP domain you created? You should be able to do this by clicking the padlock on the upper left side of the window. After that you should be able to select the domain you created, and your domain users should appear.

Try this, and please get back to me.

Regards, Richard.

Richard:

I came into this job with a 'Frankenstein' server.... for example:

It is actually a G5 tower with an additional 10/100 card. It has 2GB of ram and is used as an authentication server for around 100 students and faculty. In addition, the mapped accounts reside on a external firewire drive array.

The system drive is mirrored onto another internal drive, so this is the craziest system I have ever worked on. oh, I forgot to mention that there is also a netboot server that points to the autherntication server(this is not used for startup, just restoring)

Anyway, during the update the install hung up for around four hours, so I restarted the server with the same hangup. I disonnected the external firewire drives per Apple and the server booted up fine, but without the LDAP(not even an option in the checkbox). I reconnected the external drives and restarted and no change.

Hopefully, this is helps - if you need anything more, please contact me!

Thanks,
Tim

Well I would have to say it's time for a reinstall of the server OS.
