Knowledge Level: Intermediate
Problem: Software
Computer Type: Apple/Netscape
Model:
RAM: 65+
RAM Enhancer: Virtual Memory
OS Version: MacOS 8.5

Description:
I have two problems that Apple has not been able to help me with:

1. In order to view my accounts (Nations Bank), I am told by the bank that I am using Microsoft Internet Explorer 3, and that they support Netscape Navigator 4.0x. I have NN installed as my default browser, but unfortunately the bank doesn't recognize this. What can I do? Also, when I attempt to update NN to 4.0.8, the download never completes. The same is true when I have attempted to download NEtscape Communicator.

2.Regarding Sherlock

-I have downloaded 6 plug-ins. However, when I click on them I receive the message that they cannot be opened because the application Sherlock could not be found (As a translation extension with appropriate translator.) Sherlock seems to be there, and is listed on Apple Menu)

-When I attempt to use Sherlockj to search the internet before being on, I always receive the message that a network error occurred and that I should check the network connection and settings and try again. I did the remedial that Apple recommended and nothing happened.

Your help in the above will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bill and welcome to No Wonder!

Are you using the high encryption version of Netscape?....your bank may require that you use this version:
https://wwwus.netscape.com/usdl-bin/...TEMPLATES=NSCP

Have you downloaded the OS8.5.1 update - it fixes Sherlock problems, download here: http://www.apple.com/macos
