RAM Enhancer: Ram Doubler 2.x
OS Version: MacOS 8
Description:
Have gone from being really enthusiastic about Sherlock to really p.o.'d. Can't choose more than 1 or 2 resources without getting an out of memory error; increasing memory in contextual find app does nothing & 3/4 of time it simply freezes up or crashes. Have downloaded freeware "Sherlock Sets 10b9" in hopes of workaround but doesn't help, probably aggravates if anything. As noted above, I've got the humdinger G3 plus RamCharger & Speed Doubler. Do appreciate the automatic running of Disk First Aid under 8.5 when I have to force quit due to a freeze. Am thinking corrupt prefs file at this point. What's your take?

Hi welcome to Nowonder
Sherlock is a big big memory user - the more plugins in you have the more allocated memory you need to give it. Start with that first allocate lots of memory to just Sherlock.
You can pull the sherlock preference also that may help. Turn off Virtual Memory and try with out Ram Doubler. You also may want to check out http://www.macfixit.com site they have trouble shooting Sys 8.5 and there is a whole section just on trouble shooting Sherlock.
