Knowledge Level: Beginner

Problem: Combination
Computer Type: Apple macintosh
Model: Performa 6400/180
RAM: 32meg
RAM Enhancer: None
OS Version: MacOS 8.1

Description:
Netcom is my ISP and recently, even though it says I am connecting at 28800 bps or close, my connection crawls. Webpages load at between 25 and 95 bytes/sec instead of 2 or 3+ kb/sec. Any suggestions? I thought about switching providers but I don't know if that is the problem.

I just turned off the extensions File Sharing and Energy Saver and I could get on good enough to send this message. Maybe that is part of it.

Thanks

Stan,
Thanks for giving us here at No Wonder the opportunity to answer your
question. I am Nevin of the No Wonder Mac Staff.
You don't mention whether or not you have rebuilt your desktop or rebuilt
the desktop. These two functions can go along way in speeding up your computer.
Which browser are you using, you can allocate it more memory (As much as
possible) and put your ram cache at about 1024k. Let me know if this helps and
if you need more assistance.

Best Regards,
Nevin

Don't forget to rebuild your desktop and zap your pram regularly!
